I have a black box policy – how do Carrot Points work?

Carrot points are awarded each week if you achieve a green score (+5 or higher).

When points become available, you’ll need to log into your online dashboard to ‘claim’ them.

Every point you earn is worth 1p towards your online vouchers. Once you’ve claimed your points, they’ll be added to your balance ready for you to exchange for any voucher found in the online dashboard. The number of points you earn each week differs depending on your score. This number also depends on how many years you’ve had your policy. For example, if you’re a new driver, in your first policy year with us, you could earn up to 500 points a week for driving safely. Once you’re in the second year of our policy, with more driving experience, the rewards available are reduced down to a maximum of 250 per week.

Remember, you’ll need to claim your points within 7 days of them becoming available, or the points will be lost.

If you’ve claimed points, but aren’t ready to spend them yet, they will be saved and roll over to the next week. It’s worth noting that if your policy ends for any reason, including cancellation, you’ll lose all claimed and unspent points.
