Your black box helps us understand how you drive and provides feedback to support safer driving. It must be installed correctly and remain on your windscreen throughout your policy.
Remember, tampering with your black box may lead to your policy being cancelled.
The device has built-in anti-tamper technology. This can alert us if it has been moved, removed, installed incorrectly or interfered with. An alert doesn’t automatically mean your policy will be cancelled, but we will need to investigate it promptly.
If you receive a tamper alert, follow these steps:
- Complete the tamper form
Check your inbox for an email from ThingCo, your black box provider. Remember to check your junk or spam folder too.
Complete and submit the tamper form as soon as possible.
- Take a clear photo of your car
Take a photo showing:
- The front of your car
- Your vehicle registration
- The black box in place on the windscreen
Make sure the details are clear and visible.
- Upload your photo in the app
Sign in to the Better Driver by Carrot app. A photo request will appear for you to upload the image.
- Contact us
Once you’ve completed the steps above, please contact us so we can help resolve the alert. You must contact us before the cancellation date stated in our communications.
Please don’t ignore a tamper alert
Acting quickly gives us the best chance to understand what has happened and help you resolve the issue. Deliberately tampering with, removing or interfering with your black box may result in your policy being cancelled.
